Brunswick County Native Olivia Fluharty Named General Manager of the Shallywags
Shallotte, NC- The Shallywags are proud to announce Olivia Fluharty as the team’s new General Manager, bringing strong local roots, a passion for community, and a clear vision for creating unforgettable summer baseball experiences in Shallotte.
A Brunswick County native and graduate of West Brunswick High School, Fluharty is eager to bring the community together through baseball, noting that being able to guide an organization that supports its athletes while creating meaningful summer memories for families in Shallotte is “incredibly exciting and inspiring.”
Fans can expect far more than a traditional game day experience. Under Fluharty’s leadership, the Shallywags are focused on building a ballpark atmosphere where families feel welcome, kids leave with autographs and lifelong memories, and the community rallies around something positive and exciting. The goal, Fluharty says, is to create “an experience, not just a game,” giving fans a team they can be proud of while delivering a summer full of great baseball moments.
Fluharty was drawn to the opportunity by the chance to build a culture rooted in teamwork, integrity, and community pride. Leading the Shallywags is “about more than baseball,” she shared, emphasizing a commitment to developing players as leaders, strengthening the connection between the team and its fans, and representing the town with pride every time the Shallywags take the field.
Born and raised in Ocean Isle Beach, North Carolina, Fluharty earned a degree in Sports, Entertainment, and Event Management from Johnson & Wales University. During her time at West Brunswick High School, she was a member of the Dance Team and served as captain her senior year. She currently serves as a teacher at West Brunswick High School, where she teaches Sport and Event Marketing, coaches the Dance Team, and acts as the school’s DECA advisor. Having grown up around baseball, Fluharty describes this opportunity as “a full-circle moment that blends community, education, and the game I’ve always loved.”
With strong local ties and a purpose-driven vision, the Shallywags are positioned for an exciting season that celebrates baseball, community, and unforgettable summer nights at the ballpark.
